Too Bright to Wait for Night!

Vote Sirius!

Too bright to wait for night, Sirius is one of the few stars that can be seen in the daytime by almost every inhabitant of Earth.

Sirius has a royal history, representing Hathor, the great mother goddess in Ancient Egypt.  Sirius was even honored with its depiction on walls of the Temple of Isis. Egypt was just one of many cultures to name and observe the star.

Too amazing to be contained in a single physical form, Sirius is a group of three stars, a trinary system, making it three times better than singular stars.  Betelgeuse is bigger but Sirius is brighter.

Dear Sirius,

Thank you for guiding me home to my family and for always being there to make sure I don’t lose my way.  No matter what storm comes my way you are always bright enough to shine through.  You have always been a true and accurate latitude marker. I can count on you to always serve as the body of the “ great bird”. You separate the sky into two hemispheres that makes my heart go boom boom. In Hawaii we honor you as the Queen of Heaven, our Ka’ulua.  You will always be the Great Dane of the sea coming to my rescue in the middle of my hurricane.

Love always,  Ancient Polynesian navigators

Dear wife. Stop. Saw change in Sirius with refractor scope. Stop. Seems to be irregularities in motion and brightness. Stop. Think it's two stars, not one. Stop. There may even be three. Stop. The possibility of three will probably be dismissed around 1929, just a hunch. Stop. We will soon be rollin' in the money. Stop. If you read this telegram out loud, stop. Stop. Love Frieddy Bear. Stop.

Birthday (Discovered): 1862

Family: Sirius A (older brother)

About Me: I am a white dwarf star. I am mostly made of a carbon-oxygen mixture. Between my brother and me, I am definitely hotter at 25,200K. However, we are going to be around for a long time. 210,000 years that is. I live just down the road from Earth. We're kind of like neighbors. I was really important back in the day. The Egyptians used me to navigate the Pacific Ocean. I also marked the "dog days" of summer for the Greeks.

Example of this RAFT

Dear members of Ursa Major constellation,

I am writing today because I feel that Sirius is getting out of control.  It has been brighter than the rest of the constellation and getting more attention than the whole group.  As you may have heard before there is no I in team.  As you can tell from my previous complaints Siruis is not acting as a team player.  There are several reasons that I feel we as a constellation are more important than this single star.  The first reason is we are older.  We were here first and we should demand more attention.  Second, Sirius may not even actually be part of our constellation.  In fact, it has been suggested that it could be a supercluster which means that we should not have to share anything with an opposing team member.  After reading this letter I am sure that you will take the side that is the best for the entire constellation.

Sincerely,
Unnamed Star
